On this episode of The Ty Brady Way, Ty is joined by Nina Sossaman Pogue, whose remarkable journey spans from being a U.S. gymnastics team member in the 80s to becoming an Emmy-winning news anchor and later a tech executive. Nina shares how her identity was challenged after not making the Olympic team and suffering a career-ending knee injury in college, which led her to rediscover herself through journalism. Her transition from sports to television was difficult, but it ultimately led her to a successful career in news, where she thrived on the adrenaline and competitive environment.
Nina later took a bold leap from television to tech, joining a friend’s startup despite having little knowledge of the industry. She describes the steep learning curve and how she embraced not knowing, asked questions, and worked her way up to becoming VP of Marketing and Communications. Her dedication paid off when the company went public, giving her the opportunity to change her family’s future through financial success.
Throughout the conversation, Nina emphasizes the importance of resilience and learning from failure. She explains how the challenges she faced, from missed opportunities to career changes, ultimately shaped her character and taught her valuable life lessons. Now a professional speaker and author, Nina inspires others to not only pick themselves up after failure but to level up and move forward stronger.
